School | Modern Take on Historical Costumes

Completed in 2013

History of Costume had two components- first being research and then designing a collection- inspired by the original looks- for today.

I focused on three decades, which then magnified three different cultures. Egyptian, Medieval and Parisian Dior. The layout was important to me, as it helped to set the mood right for each theme.

We also had to design a few looks for each theme without straying away from iconic silhouttes and looks (sketches below were for Dior). An example of research for such was the documentation in the Egyptian journal- where I went further into studying the significance behind popular colours before finalizing my looks.
